WOW

That dialogue at the end was brilliantly written! The voice acting was amazing and the fact that you did all the voices makes it even more legendary. Very well done, I think this was the best episode yet.

underrated

The rating this video has gotten is about as good as proof as you can get that whenever someone sees a stick animation, regardless of quality, they are prone to auto zero it. I don't understand how anyone could say the quality of this work is below a 4.0... Please ask yourself if you can produce something this smooth and fluid before you auto-zero it.

Terkoiz,
I haven't seen you release something this lengthy and good since maybe the shock series. I will be a sad panda if this doesn't hit the front page and gets the credit it deserves. Keep up the awesome work, I enjoy your style.

What Azinye said

This is almost an exact duplicate of what the 1st episode that you submitted back in 2008 which currently boasts a solid 4.28.

I don't understand why you would submit it again. Yea this movie is a whopping 5 mb smaller then the original but that hardly justifies resubmitting your work. Nothing drastically changed in the graphics or the story to warrant submitting it again and I'd prefer if you just moved on. If the file size is really that big of a concern I'm sure you could've talked with one of the moderators and got the swfs of the originals swapped out.

I sure hope you don't intend on resubmitting all of the episodes.

wow...

UGHH! i think my balls just exploded from%uFEFF awesomeness!

When this hits front page (which it will most certainly will) count on it climbing up to probably a 4.3 or higher.

how long did this take you to make?

question

howd you do the water when mario was floating on the raft after the boat blew up?

Something you won't want to hear

Your going to get a number of reviews from a lot of people that this is complete crap because the animation isn't smooth and for a first episode, pretty much everything made no sense.

I would recommend you ease a little bit into the story and environment in the first couple episodes. Get some nice and easy character development and introduce some general things to the audience that they can connect with. Not some random chick whose running some high-tech experiment and getting annoyed that a shield number isn't what its supposed to be while some other random dude is beating up someone she secretly cares about.

I understand the "anime" style that emphasizes more on well drawn characters then simpler more fluid characters but imo that type of animation should only be left for professional studios. Anyone on newgrounds trying to attempt that style can easily make themselves spend a very long time on an animation that really isn't that visually appealing.

I give you an 8/10 because like zbox101 said below, this is obviously a lot better then the average on newgrounds. My recommendation would be to find an easier more fluid style to animate these characters so you get your money's worth in terms of rating for the time you put these episodes. A 3.9 for a 2 1/2 year project may make you pleased or upset depending on what you were expecting but I know if I spend any more then 3-4 months on an animation I expect nothing less then a 4.0.

RPGsrok responds:

Yeah I'm kinda hitting myself over this. The problem is that in the grand scheme of the Dual Arms "Series" this is by no means the first episode. Hell it's somewhere in the middle, and I've spent at least one of these two years thinking to myself about how stupid a decision that was >_< I've kinda tried to make up for it, as you saw, by putting in an extensive "World" section, but you are absolutely justified in saying that I really have been stupid to do this particular 'episode'.

The smooth animation versus image-based is in my opinion more a matter of preference than audience, though upon reflection I think you're right in that the NG audience is a touch preferential to the smooth animation I certainly need work on. I think I will be doing a lot of work refining my animation skills in the future, towards a smoother, less rigid result.

I thank you very much for being merciful score-wise while still giving me this abundance of useful critique. I certainly would like it if I got scores over 4 whenever I put a good long time into my work XD, though I think the audience for this particular genre is a touch limited. Perhaps that's just my pathetic rationalization though, and I could certainly do more to improve.

Thank you once again for reviewing; I hope you'll be courteous enough to give me more feedback in the future.

imo

Your previous ones were obviously funnier and better. To be blunt the theme of this one didn't really coincide with the humor of the others.

Maybe you were inspired to make this maybe you weren't, but imo I think its a bad idea to hold yourself to the standard of making an episode every month. I'd rather you give yourself the time to get inspired by something and create a script that maintains the quality of your previous work than rush something because of a once per month standard that you set for yourself.

Just my 2 cents.

Brilliant

Very well done. You can tell a good stick artist from a great one just by the level of detail the one puts into his backgrounds and special effects. I definitely noticed the detail you put into the lighting of each scene :).

Their is absolutely no reason why this should have a measly 4.07, it really should be at least a 4.3 or more.

Their are very few artists on newgrounds that are able to create the feel and environment of something like this. 90% of artists get their ratings from parodies or other humor. Very few of them get their ratings from making serious cartoons since its so hard to create that serious environment unless you have the skills to do so.

I can not wait for your next one, please don't keep us waiting long.

Thanks for the submission.

DOOOOM!!!

DOOOOOOOOMMMMM!!!!!!

fukn hillarious, amazing job =)

Jazza responds:

haha thanks man. DOOOM.

great stuff

I'm not sure how much was donated to you (i imagine quite a lot since i was considering it and i'm poor as hell) but I think you realize how strong of a community you've grown on the internet and ever since episode 5, a new smbz episode is quite literally christmas to a good many of us who are addicted to your series. Keep up the awesome work, and I hope the community has given you a sizeable jump start for the next one.
